Perched in her 1970’s pearly turret
hippie chic, the whole flowerchild bit
perfectionist purty girl is acting legit
puffing peace and free love, moonlit
her moniker: the letter M and a flower.

She’d never crush on a menial misfit
donning a ripe festering nose zit.

These days all wrinkled and decrepit
cuss the projects, stuck in this armpit
her formerly homeless neighbor grins
some teeth missing, some are split
nicotine stink in an elevator cockpit.

She finds herself gliding on home
crushing on this butt-ugly gnome.

No really. My butt-ugly neighbor with his mangled grin is so darling. I continued to smile as I left him in the elevator today. It’s the way his entire being brightens when he sees me. His smile makes me feel like his cool drink of water.

My sense of smell is too sharp to be dwelling among this pee-soaked geriatric bunch.
