Ordered Cherries

but I got red grapes . . .

a singular ivory full moon against pure black sky
My moon capture this morning at 6 am . . . Barley Moon hanging over Monterey Bay.

Navigating each day’s wackadoodle creep
when I shoot for shallow, life gets so deep
a mindless yank turns into a profound weep
darkness tucks me in, but won’t let me sleep.

Barley Moon splashes down, over in the bay
as my morning sausage sizzles and sautés
meanwhile he polishes a whole ‘nother day
time for my workout, and for him, it’s play.

Ordered cherries, got seedless red grapes
instead of greasy bacon, I opted for crepes
intending to trek but I did more of a traipse
eyelid kaleidoscope unshackles cloudscapes.

The California summer is setting out west
down under verdant bulbs are spring pressed
slip my silky negligee over top of my breasts
as my koala bushie lunches leaves in his nest.

Some days I am empty, some days I’m whole
some days I let go, other times I try to control
possibilities could hurry, but are taking a stroll
when I get serious, life only wants to cajole.
